The Hallettsville Brahmas came closer to wrapping up a playoff berth with an 8-3 win over Edna here Friday night in a 28-AAA game.
Hallettsville (13-7, 9-2) extended its win streak to five in a row with the victory. The Brahmas had a key game in Columbus Tuesday and will visit district pacesetter Yoakum Friday.
Jorian Wilson picked up his first career win against two losses with the start. He ceded all three Cowboy runs, nine hits and struck out nine.
Luke Henneke threw the final inning and yielded a hit.
The Brahmas got on the board first when Brandt Trlicek, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI with a double and triple, led off with a triple and scurried home on a base hit by Trace Patek.
Two runs came across in the second inning with both scoring when Layne Gerke was safe on an error.
Edna trimmed to lead to 3-2 in the second inning on a two-out, two-run single by Jaykob Reyes.
The Brahmas rallied for four runs in the fourth set.
Monte Thigpen was the table-setter with a single.
Jaden Gonzales walked. Bowen Higgins grounded a single to right for a run and Layne Gerke’s base hit scored another. Two other runs scored on a sac fly by Patek and a base hit by Brock Bludau for a 7-2 edge.
Edna tallied a run in the sixth on a single by Payton Vera.

The Brahmas abused Palacios 18-8 in Palacios last Tuesday.
Hallettsville scored its 18 runs on 18 hits with all but one hit being singles in the five-inning game.
Brock Bludau (4-0) was the starter and went two innings giving up three earned runs with three strikeouts and walked three.
Bludau, Trace Patek Jaden Gonzales and Bowen Higgins all had three hits. Patek drove in three runs. Jorian Wilson was 2-for-3 with three RBI and four runs.
The Brahmas led 5-2 prior to rallying for six runs in the third to pull a away.
