Frances Jo Byrd

On Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, Frances Jo Byrd, loving wife and mother passed away at the age of 86.

Frances was born on Feb. 19, 1936 in Hallettsville, Texas to Joseph and Mary (Michna) Vanek. She was the youngest of nine children.

On Feb. 5, 1965 she married Bill Byrd. Together they raised one daughter, Tina Welch.

Fran was a devoted wife and mother. She had a passion for cooking. She made the best kolaches, pickles and peach preserves.

She was also a faithful Catholic who never missed reading her bible and bible verses. She was known for her willingness to help others and compassionate spirit.

Over the years, she and Bill participated in church activities at Sacred Heart Catholic church. She was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Joe, Charles, Stanley and Louis Vanek; four sisters, Marie Grafe, Vickie Klimitchek, Kathryn Munke and Maggie Volcik.

She is survived by her husband, Bill and her daughter, Tina Welch and husband, Chad; grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Welch of Fort Worth, as well as several nieces and nephews, and other loving family members and numerous friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville on Friday, April 29. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. and Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Please join us in celebrating the life of Frances Jo Byrd.
