Henry Wayne Winkler
November 29, 1942 - April 24, 2022
Henry Wayne Winkler,
79, of Hallettsville, passed
away peacefully on Sunday,
April 24, 2022, surrounded
by his loving family.
Henry was born in Hallettsville
on Nov. 29, 1942,
to Henry Charles and Hertha
Kathryn (Fritsch) Winkler.
Upon graduating from
Hallettsville High School
in 1961, he hitchhiked to
Houston in search of a job
and found one at an aluminum manufacturing plant.
On Feb. 23, 1963, he married Margaret Elaine Henderson
of Weimar, and together they had two children, Ronald
and Staci.
In 1963, Henry began working at Anderson Greenwood
as a machinist and moved up as the coordinator of special
engineering projects. After working there 30 years, he and
Margaret retired and moved back to the family farm.
He spent his free time growing a beautiful vegetable garden,
tinkering around his shop, and enjoying many rounds
of beer with friends at Rosie’s Hideaway in Witting.
When Henry became a “PoPo”, his focus shifted to
spending time with his only grandchild, Ethan. They were
each other’s best friend and spent lots of time working on
the farm and roaming the pastures together on their Gator.
He taught Ethan many life skills and the value of hard
work.
Henry is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Staci
and husband, Jamie Wenske; his grandson, Ethan Winkler;
sister, Shirley “Katie” Johnson, and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, and son,
Ronald Wayne Winkler.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 1 at

Beyer officiating.
Burial will follow at the Witting Cemetery.
