Two Cents with the Times, May
Two Cents with The Times is a monthly portion of the Herald-Times where locals and visitors have the chance to share their opinion on topics relevant to the Yoakum community. This month, graduates were selected using opportunity sampling after the 2022 Graduation Commencement Ceremony. Interviewees answered the following question:
What will you miss most about being a student at Yoakum High School?
Julian Estrada, Yoakum
“Probably just seeing all of my friends. I’m probably not going to see them again, so I’ll miss them… (Also) football games are fun – a lot of energy.”
Brody Hamil, Yoakum
“I really like the sports programs. It’s like a little family. So, whenever you’re on the team, you get really close relationships and you have people to rely on if you need a ride and things like that. Just the brotherhood we have.”
Brenterae Miller, Yoakum
“The one thing is the sports. I wish I could do a whole four years one more time to show off at football... That’s the one thing I miss (from) being in high school.”
Austin Sherrer, Yoakum
“Mostly the sports, but learning is also fun… (Sports particularly) because you can spend time with your friends and win and lose together.”
