Jimmie Wayne Giles

Jimmie Wayne Giles, age 67, passed away June 8.

He was the youngest of 15 children born on Feb. 6, 1955 in Yoakum to the late Horace and Lillian Jones Giles. 

He went to Yoakum High School. He was a proud veteran and retired from the United States Army. Jimmie believed in placing his family first and did everything necessary to care for them. He loved fishing and to sit back and listen to his jazz music. Jimmie was a loving husband and father. He met the love of his live, Virgie and they spent 54 years together, 49 of them married.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Virgie Foly Giles; daughters, Patricia Flowers and Christie Flowers; sons, Elvin Flowers (Brittney), Patrick Flowers (Cassandra), Nicholas Giles (Kristi) and James Giles (Tasha); 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Marcell "Buddy" Giles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith Marie Bates, Mary Ann Ross, Linda Giles, and Myrtle Bonner; brothers, Samuel, Oscar, Julius, Leon, Joe, Cornell, Robert, and Wilbert Giles.

A visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. June 17 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. June 18 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Marcell Giles officiating. The burial will follow ar Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

The pallbearers include Elvin Flowers, Patrick Flowers, Nicholas Giles, James Giles, Donovan Jones, and Jacarrien Giles. The honorary pallbearers include Anthony Wright, Reginald Jones Jr., Robert Brown Jr., and Marshall Jones.
