Broderick Lavar Mathis

Broderick Lavar Mathis, 35, left this world suddenly after a car accident on June 13. He was born June 12, 1987 in Yoakum to Stayton Ford and Cassandra Franklin.

He graduated from Yoakum High School and worked in the oilfield.

Survivors include his father, Stayton Ford and mother Cassandra Franklin; children, Cayde Gates, Camish Mathis, and Lucchese Mathis; six sisters, Quandolyn Mathis, Earlisha Earls, Shanae Ford, Ora Ford, Sadie Ford, and A’Karia Ford; three brothers, Durance Johnson, Yeury Bryant, and Dorsett Johnson and other siblings; grandmother, Betty Jackson Scott and numerous extended family.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Beth Ford; grandparents, Alvin “Red” Ford and Ora Lee Ford.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 25 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Arkadie officiating. A burial will follow at Yoakum Restland Cemetery.
