Eugene "Gene" Brooks

Eugene “Gene” Brooks, 71, of Shiner, entered his sunset Sunday, July 10, 2022.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., with Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16 at Shiner Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Greathouse officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum.
He was born November 21, 1951, in Shiner, to Jackson and Minnie Lee (Greathouse) Brooks. He fought a good fight, maintained his faith, and he has finished his course. Eugene was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Shiner.
He started his career as a truck driver; however, for the past 35+ years he was a Farmer and Rancher for Pohler Farms. Due to the pride he took in his work, it has been reported that he never once called in sick.  Although a quiet man, he didn’t mince words when it came to his children and his grandchildren who he absolutely loved and doted on.
Survivors include his daughter, LaSonya  Brooks Foster; sons, Tramayne Brooks, Mike Brooks and Chancey Brooks (Laura) and companion Pauline Baros of Shiner; mother of his children, Sharon Brooks; 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Lennis “Morris” Brooks Sr. of Shiner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Theresa Brooks, Alberta Brooks Dilworth and Margie Brooks; and brothers, Artis Brooks and Melvin Brooks Sr.
