Barbara Jean Castro

Barbara Jean Castro, 71, of Moulton, passed away into God’s loving arms, Friday, July 22, 2022 as she was surrounded by her family. 

She was born July 24, 1950 in Shiner to George and Emmie (Hustede) Michalec.

Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton. She was a hardworking, loving, gentle person, serving God as a wife, mother and grandmother. 

She enjoyed a good Dallas Cowboy game or a baseball game, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Castro of Moulton; daughters, Lisa Hancock and husband, Bryan of McGregor; Laura Castro and Daniel Jalufka Jr. of Hallettsville; Lynn Nevlud and husband, Bradley of Shiner; Lucy Martinez and husband, Michael of College Station; Lera Castro and fianceé, Brandon Trevino of Cuero, and step-son, Dennis Castro and wife, Lydia of Houston; 10 grandchildren; brother, Raymond Michalec and wife, Mary of Shiner, and  a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brent Joseph Castro.

Visitation began at 4:30 p.m. and Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 25 at Thiele Cooper Funeral in Yoakum. 

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton with Rev. Gabriel Maison officiating. 

Burial followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bryan Hancock, Daniel Jalufka Jr., Bradley Nevlud, Michael Martinez, Brandon Trevino, Curtis Jacobs, Zachary Jacobs and Brandon Leftwich.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of South Texas.

Arrangements were entrusted to  Thiele Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum.
