The Comanches kick off 15-2ADI play at undefeated Ganado. The Indians have taken care of business against Van Vleck, Palacios, East Bernard and Danbury. Ganado is scoring 38.75 points a game and yielding 10.75 points a game.
Shiner capped non-district with a 49-7 win at East Bernard and sits at 3-1.
“Ganado is definitely going to be a challenge. They have nine starters back on each side of the football and have a lot of experience,” Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. “
Kyle Bures-Guerrero is back to lead the Indian offense and has thrown for 630 yards and eight touchdowns while running for 429 yards and nine more touchdowns.
Vince Sablatura and Dylan Holt each have over 200 yards on the year and have combined for six touchdowns.
Cain Hayden is the top receiver with 226 yards on 16 catches and four touchdowns.
“Bures-Guerrero runs well and can throw just as good,” Boedeker said “He has several good receivers to throw to and we cannot just pinpoint one of them. They also have two very good running backs
Fabian Almeda is the top defender with 16 tackles, five assists and five tackles for loss; Holt had two sacks on the year.
“They have a very athletic defensive line and linebackers get to the ball well,” Boedeker said. “We’ll have to win the line of scrimmage and sustain drives by eliminating penalties and not turning the ball over.”
Boerne Geneva at St. Paul
The Cardinals close out the two-game home stand by welcoming Geneva Eagles.
The Eagles currently sit at 1-3 after winning their opener against Austin St. Michaels and have dropped three games in a row.
“We have played them in the past and they are a good team. They are 1-3 but have played really good teams,” Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
St. Paul is 2-2 after two home games, one away game and one game at a neutral site.
Landon Grimes leads the rushing game with 214 yards and three touchdowns; quarterback Jacob Rosenstiel has completed 52-of-95 passes for 479 yards and three touchdowns.
Grimes is the leading receiver with 154 yards on 20 catches.
“They are a spread on offense but do some things on the line such as putting a tight end in the tackle position. We will need to make sure we keep eyes on the receivers,” Wachsmuth said.
George Vina is the leading tackler with 18 tackles, 10 assists, two tackles for loss and one sack.
“They will line up in multiple formations. Our offense had few penalties and no turnovers in our last game and that was big,” Wachsmuth said. “We need to do that this week.”
