Kolache Fest Saturday, Sept. 24
The annual Kolache Fest is set for this Saturday, Sept. 24 with a full-day of activities taking place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.
This year’s Kolache Fest marks the 27th year for the event and its organizers have lined up a vast amount of activities throughout the day.
The only activity set for Friday evening will be warm-up 42 domino games. Registration begins at 5 p.m. with a $20 per team charge for those wanting to play. Games will start at 6:30 p.m.in side the hall.
On Saturday, the 42 domino tournament will be held with registration starting at 7 a.m. The cost to play in the tournament is $40 per team and play will begin at 8:15 a.m.
Activities for the Kolache Fest will be kicked off by the annual 5K Run and Walk starting at 7:30 a.m. on the Courthouse Square.
In addition, Arts and Crafts booths will be open at the K of C Hall pavilion and will remain open throughout the day for your shopping pleasure.
The Kolache Fest Parade is slated to start at 10 a.m. with its route traveling around the Lavaca County Courthouse Square in downtown Hallettsville.
Following the parade, the remaining Kolache Fest activities will head to the K of C Hall for the rest of the day and evening. Throughout the day, kolaches will be available for sale as well as a wide-variety of food and drink booths open at the Food Court.
Other activities to take place at the Kolache Fest include activities for the children as well as the vintage Car Show held on the grounds behind the K of C Hall.
Also scheduled for Saturday is a barbecue cookoff that will take place with awards presented to the winners at 6 p.m. at the Biergarten Pavilion.
At 2 p.m., the traditional kolache eating contest will take place under main pavilion and at 3:30 p.m. a kolache baking demonstration will be held with the 2022 Kolache Queen, Davi Spaeth showing her kolache baking skills.
Kolache Fest organizers have arranged a wide-variety of musical entertainment that can be enjoyed by all during the afternoon and evening under the Biergarten Pavilion. The Dujka Brothers will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be followed by the Czechaholics playing from 3 to 6 p.m. Shiner’s 2nd Wind will close out the evening’s entertainment from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
