Vernon Eugene Duty Sr.

Vernon Eugene Duty Sr., 75, of Hallettsville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022. 

He was born on Aug. 11, 1947, to Robert B. and Charlotte Williford Duty, in Houston. 

After high school he joined the Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for his uncle’s construction company before finishing his career with Harris County Precinct 3.

Vernon married Kathleen Rodgers in 1971.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Kathleen; three sons; one sister; four grandchildren, and several nieces and  nephews.

Vernon was preceded in death by  his parents; son, Vernon E. Duty Jr., and brother, William David Duty.

Visitation began at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Msgr. John Peters officiated.

Burial followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of South Texas or a charity of donor’s choice.
