Born on February 1, 1931, in Gonzales, to William Sommerlatte and Ella Klaus Sommerlatte, Dorothy Fay Sommerlatte was a life-long resident of Gonzales and was a graduate of Gonzales High School. She married George Sutton on March 12, 1949 in Guadalupe County.
Dorothy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who raised more than just her own children during her 91 years of life. She will be remembered by her warm and nurturing personality as well as her amazing southern home cooking. She was a godly woman who attended the First Lutheran Church of Gonzales for many years and kept a strong faith throughout her entire life. Dorothy served as a loving matriarch to her family who would do anything for her grandchildren.
Her primary job was selflessly raising and supporting her family while also helping George and her son, Gary, on the family farm. During deer season, Dorothy was always an excellent hunting companion, and her family always looked forward to the meals she prepared soon after. She always put others before herself, and her endless generosity will be missed.
Survivors include one son, Gary Alan Sutton and wife Robin of Gonzales; daughter, Linda Fay Brown of Gonzales; four grandchildren, Tinker Irvin Brown, Buttons George Brown, Sable Lee Kitchen, and Brooklyn Shaye Sutton; and four great-grandchildren, Madelynn Paige Brown, Hagen Wayne Brown, Declan Cane Brown, and Ivy Fay Kitchen.
