Yoakum girls basketball: Lady Bulldogs won both two district games last week

The Lady Bulldogs picked up wins in both district games from last week.
Yoakum 59, Palacios 42
Jayana Phillips and Destiny Rios each scored 14 points in the Lady ‘’Dogs 59-42 win at Palacios Jan. 10.
Yoakum started off with a 19-13 lead in the first quarter and slightly outscored the Sharkettes 10-9  in the second period.
Palacios closed down to 39-32 in the third quarter before Yoakum finished strong with a 20-7 run in the fourth frame.
For the Lady ‘Dogs, Emma Fling had three rebounds; Madison Gonzales provided one rebound, one assist; Deazia Rios had five rebounds, one assist, one steal; Olivia Fojt chipped in eight rebounds, three steals, two assists; Samantha Adamek had 11 rebounds, four steals, four blocks, two assists; Destiny Rios had five rebounds, one steal; Addison Pekar added two rebounds, one steal; Aaliyah Wildrey totaled four steals, one assist; Taylor Velek had three assists, two steals, one rebound; Phillips had five rebounds, four steals, three assists; Raelee Schlegal had two assists, one rebounds, one steal; Amori Harper finished with one rebound.

Yoakum used a 17-11 run in the fourth frame to take a 51-48 barnburner against Edna at home on Friday.
The Lady ‘Dogs posted a 12-9 lead after the first quarter before the Cowgirls had a big second frame with a 22-10 run.
Yoakum cut into the Edna lead with 12 of 18 points in the third stanza.
Phillips led the Lady ‘Dogs withy 19 points recorded and Destiny Rios netted 12 points.
Gonzales had one assist, one steal; Deazia Rios had six rebounds, four steals, three assists; Fojt provided 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals; Adamaek had 11 rebounds, three blocks,one assist; Destiny Rios contributed 11 rebounds, four steals, one block; Pekar had one rebound; Wildrey had two steals; Velek had two rebounds, one assist; Phillips had seven rebounds, two assists, one steal; Schlegal had one rebound; Harper had one rebound.
