Edward B. Hermes
Edward Bernard Hermes, of Shiner, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023.
He was born on November 30, 1963 in Baytown, to the late Edward and Norma Smothers Hermes. He was a teamster truck driver who enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing dominoes, telling jokes and mostly spending time with friends and family. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny ability to remember names and faces for years.
Survivors include his first wife, Cherise Hollan Hermes and their daughter, Kelci Grace Zimmermann (Nick); granddaughter, Adelynn Grace Zimmermann; his second wife, Darcy Iles Hermes and her children, Schuyler Warren and Gwendolyn Warren; and sister, Karen Renger (Harvey).
Bernard led an uncommon, unconventional life, and there are many people that called him brother that will also be acknowledged as family survivors: the Dvorak family (Jackie and Hughie Long, Tasha and Geoff Wolf, Jimmie and Debbie Dvorak, Todd and Christie Dvorak and Keith and Gina Dvorak).
He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and his beloved mother Norma Smothers Hermes.
There will be an interment and casual story sharing at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22 at Salem Cemetery.
Bernard enjoyed telling and hearing stories and his family would love for friends to come share stories and celebrate the life of this remarkable man.
Pallbearers will be extended family: Hughie Long, Geoff Wolf, Todd Dvorak, Keith Dvorak, John Harrington and Jimmy Dvorak.
