Dennis E. ‘PoPo’ Satsky Sr.

Dennis E. “PoPo” Satsky Sr., 85, of Hallettsville, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2023. 

He was born on March 18, 1937, in Koerth to Louis P. and Julia Ann (Krenek) Satsky.

On Feb. 4, 1961, he married Ora Findeisen in Moulton. 

He received his Honorable Discharge from the US Army on Aug.  31, 1965.

 He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Dennis enjoyed hunting, ranching, gambling and of course good food.  He always had a good story to tell and you could always ask him anything, because he knew everything whether it was true or not.  His grandchildren and great-grandchild were his absolute joy

Dennis is survived by his son, Dennis Satsky Jr. and wife, Karey; daughter, Denise Henke and  husband, Billy; two sisters, Patsy Kalmus (Steve) and  Barbara Crisp (Dudly); four grandchildren, Shelby Henke, Scott Henke (fiancé Jenna), Megan Henke (fiancé Ryan) and  Derik Satsky, and one great-grandchild, Lyndy Henke.

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Ora;  parents; sister, Margaret Berckenhoff, and special “son”, Chris Janak.

Visitation began at 9 a.m. and Rosary was recited at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Msgr. John Peters officiated. 

Burial followed at  2 p.m., Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Moulton.

Pallbearers were Shelby Henke, Scott Henke, Derik Satsky, Ryan Berkovsky, Jon Ross and Gary Kalmus. 

Honorary pallbearers were  Bill Machalec, Megan Henke, Jenna Macha, Chris Janak, Lyndy Henke and Victor Janak.

  Memorials may be made a charity of  donor’s choice.
