Kathryn Lee Hons

Kathryn Lee Hons, 72, of Shiner, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born December 26, 1950 in Okinawa, Japan to Kathryn Lee (Synder) Smith and William T Smith Sr., who was in the military stationed in Japan.

Kathryn worked at Friday’s in Shiner for many years. She had a big, kind heart, never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. She was a loving protective wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed always.

Survivors are her best friend and husband of 34 years, Allen Hons of Shiner; daughters, Nan Pilat (Jeff) of Moulton, Melissa Dixon of Yoakum and BJ Zabransky (David) of Sweet Home; 8 grandchildren, Nathan (Mary), Allison (Wyatt), Brittany, Kyle, Nathaniel, Joshua, Blakely and Emery; 3 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Julius and Brayson; brothers, William T. Smith Jr. of San Antonio and Corky Smith (Pat) of Louisiana; sister-in-law, Patsy Shirk of Taylor.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.

Funeral Service 10 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with burial to follow at Moulton City Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Shiner Animal Services.
