Shiner softball: LC fall at Weimar to split season district series
Ahead of Shiner by just one run at 5-4 entering the bottom of the fourth, the Weimar Lady Wildcats scored two runs and went on to deal the Lady Comanches an 11-4 loss March 28 in Weimar to split the season series.
Shiner led 1-0 after the first frame and Weimar grabbed the lead with five runs in the second.
Shiner outscored Weimar 3-2 in the third frame before the Lady ‘Cats kept Shiner from scoring any further runs and scored one run in the fourth and fifth squares and put two runs on the board in the sixth inning.
Brinley Ramirez got two of Shiner’s seven hits and Addy Siegel got a double with her lone hit. Ramirez, Siegel, Rylee Vancura and Teresa Olivas each scored one run.
Siegel started at pitcher and went 1 2/3 innings with five runs, six walks and two strikeouts. Olivas worked 3 1/3 innings, four runs on six hits and a walk. Dyllan Chrismon went one inning as closer with one hit, a pair of runs and a strikeout.
Ramirez had four putouts and four assists while Vancura also had four putouts. Shiner had some struggles in the with a handful of errors.
