Shiner baseball: Comanches score 30 in district game against Louise

    Shiner improved to 17-3 and unbeaten in district coming into this week where they host Schulenburg and Ganado.

    Drew Wenske went 3-for-5 at the plate, smacked a couple of doubles and brought in four runs, and handled the pitching with three runs on five hits, a walk, a batter hit and six strikeouts in a 10-3 win at Weimar March 28.
    Ryan Peterson got two hits, a run and double; Kaiden Boothe was 2-for-4, RBI and scored twice.
    In the field Keenan Hailey made nine putouts.
    Shiner scored twice in first inning, went up 3-0 after two innings and upped the lead to 5-0 in the fourth.
    Weimar got within 6-3 after six squares and the Comanches sealed the win with four runs scored in the seventh.

    Peterson gave up one run, ceded three hits, had three walks and struck out a dozen in Shiner’s 11-1 win over Flatonia at home March 31.
    Flatonia scored one run in the first inning and Shiner scored four at its first time at bat. The Comanches did not score against until the fifth frame with seven runs plated to end the game on the run rule.
    Boothe led at the plate with two of Shiner’s eight hits, scored once and had an RBI. Jake Simper plated two runs.
    Carson Schuette, Landyn Pohler and Caleb Lehnert had one putout each.

    Shiner led just 1-0 after the first inning but scored 17 runs in the second and another dozen in the third to crush Louise 30-0 on April 4.
    The Comanches had 17 hits with eight players getting multiple hits. Wenske was 3-for-4, three runs, three RBI and a home run; Peterson went 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBI.
     Hailey was 3-for-4, four runs, four RBI and a home run; Schuette got two hits, four runs, four RBI and a home run. Boothe got two hits, three runs, two RBI and a double; Jake Davidson got two hits and scored twice. Schuette pitched four innings with one walk and 11 strikeouts. In the field, Wenske fielded a ground ball at second and passed to Hailey for the only non-strikeout out.

    Schuette smashed two home run, scored four runs and six total RBI to lead Shiner to a 19-0 win at Bloomington on Thursday. Hailey got two hits, scored three runs, got a double and had three RBI while Peterson was 2-for-4, three runs, double and RBI.
    Landyn Pohler pitched four squares with a one-hit shutout, one walk and six strikeouts.
    Schuette had two putouts in the field.
