Lillian Pekar
Lillian Pekar, 93, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
She was born on August 12, 1929 in Shiner, to Joseph E. and Annie Mladenka Hranitzky.
She married Daniel Pekar on November 15, 1947. Soon after marriage, they moved to Del Rio, followed by Houston where she lived for most of her adult life. Lillian spent her remaining time in Mansfield.
Lillian was a member of Saint Jude Catholic Church and Heart of the Nation Catholic Church. She was a long time beautician in Houston.
Once retired, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, and traveling. She was very special to her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Lillian is survived by her son, Gary Pekar and wife Terri; grandchildren, Jared and Lauren Pekar, Shawna Thomas and husband Rob, Gregg Pekar and wife Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Madison and Aaron Thomas, Paige and Avery Pekar; brother Walter Hranitzky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Daniel Pekar; son, Warren Pekar; brothers, Buddy Hranitzky, and Clifton Hranitzky and wife Cecilia; sister, Virginia Hranitzky Hirsch and husband Raymond; and sister-in-law, Embrene Hranitzky.
A rosary for Lillian will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 21 at Shiner Catholic Cemetery, 154 CR 348, Shiner, TX 77984.
