Shiner softball: Vincik jack, defense sees LC earn big win against GHS

    The Lady Comanches defeated Schulenburg and got redemption in a 1-0 win over Ganado after falling to the Maidens earlier in the season.

    The Lady Comanches scored three runs in the first inning and went on to a 7-2 win over Schulenburg April 11 at home to complete the sweep.
    Shiner went up 4-0 after two frames and was ahead 6-0 at the completion of the fifth square. Both teams scored one run in the sixth and Schulenburg brought in one run in the top of the seventh.
    Teresa Olivas picked up the win inside the circle with three hits, one run, four walks and four strikeouts in five innings. Lauren Springfield worked two frames, one hit, one run and three strikeouts.
    Olivas, Addy Siegel and Brinley Ramirez each had two-hit days at the plate while Rylee Vancura got a home run.
    Ramirez had four putouts and one assist on defense.

    Ganado outhit the Lady Comanches 7-1 on Friday but the lone hit for the Shiner was a big hit.
    In the bottom of the fourth and with two outs, Paeden Vincik knocked a ball over the center-field wall and that, combined with good pitching and solid defense, resulted in a 1-0 win for Shiner to clinch second place.
    Springfield saw more action in the circle, getting the win with 6 1/3 innings, seven-hit shutout, one walk and seven strikeouts. Vancura had six putouts in the field.
