Moulton softball: Kittens rally to edge Runge 14-13

The Moulton Kittens scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a small 10-9 deficit and go on to edge Runge 14-13 in a non-district game in Runge on Monday.
The Kittens led 5-2 after the first frame and Runge outscored them 5-0 in the second inning to get ahead 7-5.  Moulton closed the gap to 7-6 in the third and tied the game at 7-7 in the fourth before Runge outscored them 3-2 in the fifth inning.
Runge scored one run in the bottom of the first to get within 14-11 and two more in the seventh to get within one.
At the plate for the Kittens, Hope Kirkland got two hits, double, two runs, RBI; Araceli Vasquez got two hits, run, double, RBI; Karsyn Blahuta got a pair of hits, scored twice and an RBI while Bailey Petrek went 1-for-3, run, double and three RBI.
Addison Simper yielded 13 runs on nine hits, four batters struck, 16 walks and 11 strikeouts. On defense, Blahuta got three putouts and three assists; Audrey Swinford made three putouts.
