Glenn Edmund Schulte

Glenn Edmund Schulte, 83, of Yoakum was called home by his Lord Thursday, April 27, 2023 after a brief illness.  

He was born May 16, 1939 in Hallettsville to Joseph and Emily (Lucke) Schulte.

Glenn graduated from Hallettsville High School and attended Victoria College and shortly after was drafted into the US Army. 

He met his beloved Anita Motal and they were married June 29, 1963. 

Glenn was a machinist and retired from Elder/Baker Hughes Tool Co. Glenn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Sweet Home American Legion.  

Glenn enjoyed the simple things of life that money cannot buy. He loved life, laughter with his family, music and playing his harmonica, and lived his faith every day in service to others. He was a kind, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Anita Schulte of Yoakum; daughters, Glenda Nevlud (Bob) of Shiner; JoAnn Barton (Michael) of Hallettsville, and Marsha Rice (Steve) of San Antonio; son, Timothy Schulte (Susan) of West; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with one due any day; two sisters, Wanda Kroboth (Frank) of Cuero and Nola Bohuslav (Franklin) of Moulton; brothers, Weldon Schulte (Delores) of Rosenberg, Norrell Schulte (Mickey) of Hallettsville and Arley Schulte (Betty) of Hallettsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Feryn Schulte; brother, Gene Schulte.

Visitation began at 4 p.m., Monday, May 1 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum.

Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yoakum with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. 

Burial followed at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Paden Schulte, Keton Schulte, Ethan Nevlud, Nick Nevlud, Weston Barton, Dylan Barton, Austin Barton and Sullivan Rice.

Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters, Shyan Schulte, Adryn Schulte, Kayla Hanson and Darcy Rice.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Sweet Home American Legion.

Arrangements were entrusted to Thiele Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum.
