Leona Sestak

On Monday, May 1, 2023, Leona M. Janak Sestak left this world to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 81.
Leona was born on January 11, 1942, in Wied, Texas, to the late Adolph and Elizabeth Heidaker Janak. She attended elementary school at South Mustang School, near Sweet Home, but after the family moved, she finished out her high school years graduating from St. Joseph Catholic school in Yoakum. Leona worked at Tex Tan for four years.
She met and married the love of her life, Adolph John Sestak. They married June 29, 1963, and started their life together in Shiner. At that point, she took on her most important role as a homemaker, raising their five children. Leona loved polka music and polka and waltz dancing.
She enjoyed her flowerbeds and the outdoors, but more than anything else, she loved her grandkids. She took care of many of them when they were younger, and when they were grown. The joy of her great-grandchildren filled her heart with more unending love.
Leona is survived by her husband of 59 years, Adolph Sestak; her five children: Kenneth (Rhonda) Sestak, Barbara (Ronald) Charbula, John (Tammy) Sestak, Doris Pardy, and Karen Sestak; her 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, David John Janak of Victoria.
The visitation for family and friends will begin at 4 p.m. with a rosary following at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4 at Shiner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, with Fr. Bryan Heyer serving as celebrant.
Pallbearers are Jacob Sestak, Hayden Sestak, Brett Sestak, Matthew Sestak, Colton Sestak and Rigo Baray.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas, or MD Anderson.

Services were under the care and direction of Shiner Funeral Home.
