St. Paul stuns Indianettes
ARLINGTON – St. Paul had a reversal of fortune in the TAPPS 2A state semifinals vs. Sacred Heart
Sacred Heart had beaten St. Paul handily in district play, but stunned the Indianettes, 4-2, Friday in the tournament held at Clay Gould Ballpark at UTArlington.
Lady Cardinal pitcher Julia Machacek shut down the Indianette offense with a six-hitter, striking out five in going the distance
Sacred Heart didn’t produce any runs until the bottom of the 6th inning after the Lady Cardinals had taken 3-1 lead. SP added a run in the 7th. The Indianettes saw a potentially big inning in the bottom half of the 7th and after scoring a run had the bases loaded when the final out was made.
Sacred Heart had its chances and stranded 8 baserunners. A big threat came in the 3rd inning. Rylan Dworsky was safe on an error and Ella Demel singled with one out before Machacek recorded a strikeout and induced an infield out to get out of the inning.
