Yoakum track and field: Phillips wins runner up in triple jump

The Yoakum track team competed in three events at the UIL 3A state track meet on May 11 Mike A. Meyers Stadium at the University of Texas Austin, earning one medal.
Jayana Phillips placed second in the triple jump with a best jump of 38 feet, 9 inches. Her other jumps went 38-3 3/4, 37-9 1/2, 38-6 1/4, 37-10 1/4 and 37-8 3/4.
She came in sixth place in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.17 seconds.
The boys 400-meter relay team of Jayden Jones, Zachary Taylor, Qyion Williams and Kadarius Price finished for seventh place.
