Evelyn M. Zapalac

Evelyn Marie Zapalac, 79, of Port Lavaca, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023.  
She was born on November 30, 1943 in Shiner, to Jimmie and Marie (Janca) Knezek.
Evelyn graduated from St. Joseph High School in Yoakum.  She went to work as a Nurses Aide and worked at Gulf Coast Nursing Home, at Gulf Bend Center as a caregiver for the mentally challenged, and as a private caregiver.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Louis James Zapalac of Port Lavaca; daughters, Katheryn Sanchez of Hallettsville and Cheryl DeLaRosa (Vince) of Port Lavaca; sons, Kenneth Zapalac of Port Lavaca and James Zapalac (Evelyn) of New Braunfels; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and sister, Rosalie Janak of Conroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edwin Knezek; and son-in-law, Paul Sanchez.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 3 at Thiele-Cooper in Yoakum, with the Rev. Tommy Chen officiating.  
Burial followed at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
