Council to adopt budget, tax rate Sept. 5
The Hallettsville city council will adopt the tax rate and budget at a special-called meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5.
The council adopted a proposed tax rate of 26.62¢ per $100 valuation at its previous meeting. The 2022 tax rate was 27.46%.
The proposed budget is $9.8 million for the Water/Light and General Fund.
The okayed leasing property on Park, Payne, Pagel and Second streets to Jansky Sand & Gravel, Inc. for a dollar a month.
The council approved the 2023 write-offs.
However, this does not mean the city can’t collect the amount owed.
The total is $7,904.22 compared to $3,435.82 a year ago. The largest amount owed is $2,373.31.
Sales & Use Taxes were down from $56,563.26 last month to $47,941.85 this month.
Bills totaling $232,578.67 for July were approved.
There was no action after executive session.
