Brahmas in Bounce Back Victory Over CC, 27-7
SAN ANTONIO – The Hallettsville Brahmas righted the ship in a hurry with a 27-7 victory over San Antonio Central Catholic Friday night.
The Brahmas gained 402 yards of total offense - 281 rushing and 121 passing, while the defense gave up 244 yards.
Halfback Jashaun P r i c e r u s h e d fo r a career-high 155 yards on 22 carries and one touchdown. Price gained 192 all-purpose yards.
Quarterback Jorian Wilson scored two touchdowns and ran for another. Wilson completed 7 of 11 passes for 121 yards, the longest to Rashaun Sidney for 79 yards.
Wilson ran for 57 yards on 10 carries.
“ We knew that against Pieper we had some mistakes which we cleaned up Friday n i g h t ,” h e a d c o a ch Levi Montgomery said. “Proud of the kids and the fact they were able to get back to work and show grit and determination. Particularly pleased with our quarterback and how he is continuing to command the offense and make plays with his feet.”
The Brahmas (4-1) had scoring drives of 56, 59, 82 and 73 yards and zero turnovers for the first time this season.
The first score came in the initial quarter on a 7-yard run by Wilson. Ty Tomek kicked the extra point.
In the second period, Wilson ended a 13-play, 59-yard drive by scoring from 14 yards out.
The Brahmas made it 21-0 following an 82 yard drive which took just 3 plays in the second quarter with Price sprinting 55 yards for the score.
Central Catholic scored its only touchdown in the second stanza to cut the Brahma lead to 21-7 at the half.
The game's final score came in the third period on a 47-yard bomb from Wilson to Sidney.
Jonathan Weinkam scored the button touchdown and rushed for 76 yards on 14 carries to go along with 4 pass receptions for 62 yards.
