    The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas once again took one step forward and one back last week.

    The LB defeated Rice Consolidated, 3-1, Tuesday,Sept. 26 before losing to Tidehaven and Mary Johnson, 3-1 (24- 26,25-22,25-19,25-23) here Friday in a very competitive match, but Johnson took over the next three sets with 14 kills and 4 blocks.

    Hallettsville came back from a 24-21 deficit to win the first set, 26-24. A 5-0 run was led by Kasey Harper with 3 kills and an ace by Hanna Zachary. Ella Amsden had 5 kills in the set and Harper 4.

    Set No. 2 saw 9 ties. The LB led 20-19 but the Tigerettes went on a 6-2 binge before closing out with a 25-22 win.

    The third set belonged to the Tigerettes, 25-19. Tidehaven went up 20-17 before closing out the set with by outscoring Hallettsville 6-2 the rest of the way.

    There were 4 ties in the fourth set, the last at 23-23, but the Tigerettes settled the issue by scoring the final 2 points.

    Hallettsville had 22 attack errors in the match.

    Johnson put down 17 successful swings.

    Harper and Amsden and Harper both had a double-double. Harper had 14 kills and 11 digs and Amsden 13 kills and 14 digs.

    The LB started the second half of district play Tuesday in Edna.

    The LB went four sets with Rice Consolidated. Kasey Harper led the offense with 13 kills and Hanna Zachary with 4 aces. Zachary led the defense with 9 digs

    Five kills by Harper in the initial set led the 25- 17 victory. The LB ended the set with an 8-0 run.

    The Lady Raiders committed 6 serving errors and 5 hitting miscues in the second set which aided the Brahmas in the 25-18 win. The Lady Brahmas closed the set by scoring 5 unanswered points on two Rice hitting miscues an ace by Ella Amsden, and kills by Alaina Halata and Harper
