Moulton cross country: Kittens win district cross-country championship

    Moulton hosted the 30-1A cross-country meet on Oct. 11 with the Kittens taking the top spot in the girls varsity race.

    Varsity Girls
    The Kittens scored 20 points to claim the district title with Pettus coming in second with 35 points.
    Leading the Kittens was Estefania Colchado who was third with a time of 14 minutes, 41 seconds. Following her was Karsyn Blahuta in 14:57. Addisyn Grieve was sixth with 15:36 and behind her was Abby Tinajero in 15:41.
    Marisol Manzano was timed at 16:03 for No. 10; Addison Simper was No. 14 in 16:37 and following was Katie Richter in 16:47.

    Varsity Boys
    The Katz placed fourth with 73 points.
    Bryan Fernandez led Moulton with ninth place in 19:33 and will compete at regionals as an individual.
    Mateo Vasquez was No. 17 in 20:33; Travis Haikenwaelder was No. 29 in 20:49; John Gomez placed No. 25 n 21:41; Alan Solano was No. 27 in 22:04.

    JV Girls
    There was only four runners, all from Moulton, in the junior-varsity race.
    Angeles Juarez finished in 16:39; Estrella Perez in 17:07; Audrey Swinford in 17:44 and Grace Mezik in 18:11.

    JH Girls
    Ava Olivarez was third in 15:22 and behind her was Kate Mikulencak in 15:37.

    JH Boys
    Blake Robinson was second in 15:52, followed by Andrew Pierce (15:59) and Wesley Brown in 16:15. Cullen Mikulencak was seventh in 17:36.

    Regional meet
    The Kittens will run at 9:30 a.m. and Fernandez will run at 10 at Texas A&M Corpus Christi’s Dugan Track and Soccer stadium (701 E. Nile Dr. Corpus Christi).
