Early voting has begun
Early voting on 14 Texas constitutional amendments started Monday, Oct. 23 and will continue through Friday, Nov. 3.
All early voting takes place at the Lavaca County Courthouse Annex located at 412 N. Texana in Hallettsville.
Voters can continue to cast their ballot early during office hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 3 voting hours are extended from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7 with all polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ballot by mail
For voters in Lavaca County voting ballot by mail, an Application for Ballot by Mail (ABBM) can be obtained by downloading an application for a ballot by mail from the Texas Secretary of State’s website or contacting the Lavaca County elections administrator’s office in the Courthouse Annex
To be eligible to vote by mail in Texas, you must:
• Be 65 years or older;
• Be sick or disabled;
• Be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or
• Be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
For the November 7 election, the last day your ABBM can be received by the elections’ administrator’s office is Friday, Oct. 27.
Your ABBM application must be received, not post marked, at the elections’ administrator’s office by the close of office hours at 5 p.m.
After completing your ABBM, you may send your application for ballot by mail by:
• Regular mail
• Common or contract carrier (Fed Ex etc.)
• By faxing the application to the elections administrator’s office at (361) 798-4016.
However, faxing your application is due by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 and the original application must be received within four days thereafter.
The deadline for after voting for absentee (mail-in) voting ballot must be postmarked, post received or in-person received by Nov. 7, 2023.
