Spikers win all district, academic all-state honors

The Yoakum High School Volleyball Team received 2023 District 25-3A Volleyball Awards.

ALL-DISTRICT:

Jayana Phillips was named Offensive Players of the Year. Olivia Fojt was named Libero of the Year. Macie Blakeney was selected as Setter of the Year.

Making the First Team were Samantha Adamek and Addison Pekar.

Destiny Rios was chosen for the Second Team.

Madison Gonzales received Honorable Mention.

Players making Academic All-District were Adamek, Blakeney, Fojt, Hanna Garvin, Gonzales, Brianna Lopez, Leah Muenich, McKenna New, Pekar, Phillips, RIos, Hannah Schultz, and Taylor Velek.

Several players made Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic AllState. Blakeney was selected for First Team. Pekar and Gonzales were selected for Second Team.

Yoakum finished the season as regional quarterfinalists.
