Zaruba commits to Sam Houston State baseball in Huntsville

Yoakum High School 2022 graduate and McClennan Community College baseball pitcher Connor Zaruba has committed to play for the Sam Houston State University Bearkats.

In his freshman season (2023), Zaruba appeared in 14 games, started four, went 6-2 with one save, pitched 39.0 innings with 2.77 earned-run average (ERA), a WHIP of 1.00 and 47 strikeouts.

Zaruba is the son of Kristi and Scott Zaruba.

He will be one of three Lavaca County graduates on the team in the future with Shiner graduate Ryan Peterson on the 2024 roster and St. Paul graduate Zak Johnson, who will move to Sam Houston from Temple College.
