Court approves road material bids
Pct. 1 JP Greenwell resigns his position
The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning and approved road material bids.
The court approved bids for the purchase of various road construction materials with Leward Anders and Son, Vulcan Construction, Brauntex Material, Colorado Materials, Quality Hot Mix, Martin Asphalt, Cleveland Asphalt, Roadside Consulting, Prihoda Gravel, Steffek Interests, Fred’s Store, Machicek Services and H&C Construction awarded bids.
Also, Schmidt and Sons and Patriot Fuel were awarded the gasoline and diesel fuel bids for the various county departments.
Pct. 1 JP Resigns
Prior to the start of action agenda items, Judge Keith Mudd announced that Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Steven Greenwell, announced his resignation of the position.
“Because the resignation came after the release of the meeting agenda, the court will not take action at this time for a replacement,” Mudd said. “The court will look at accepting his (Greenwell) resignation and filling the position.”
Mudd said several qualified individuals have expressed interest in the position.
“If anyone wants to apply, they need to apply directly to my office with a resume and fill out an application to get the process going,” Mudd said. “With the court’s permission, we will take action at the Dec. 22 meeting.”
Miscellaneous
The court acknowledged a monetary donation from Michael and Brenda Lincke Fisseler in the amount of $400 and from RVOS Farm Mutual Insurance in the amount of $300.
The two donations were given to the Lavaca County EMS.
The Court approved allocating the county’s 1,948 votes in the Lavaca County Central Appraisal District with half of each votes going toward board members Lonny Montgomery and Roddy Renger.
