'Nettes lose in championship game in Bloomington

    BLOOMINGTON – The Sacred Heart Indianettes settled for second place in the Bloomington Tournament after a 56-44 loss to the host Lady Bobcats Friday, Dec. 29.

    A high-scoring first period saw Bloomington take an 18-12 lead. The teams played on even terms in the second quarter and the Lady Bobcats had a 28-22 lead at the intermission.

    But the third period was fatal for SH when the Lady Bobcats went on an 18-4 run. Kelly Practor who scored a game-high 23 points, fueled the surge with 12 points.

    Freshman Kenzie Chance and senior post Ava Lackey scored 13 and 12 points respectively for SH.

    In a low-scoring affair, the Indianettes defeated Runge, 28-12.

    Ava Lackey had a game-high 10 points.

    SH 29, Pettus 26

    Despite scoring zero points in the third quarter, the Indianettes edged Pettus 29-26.

    Pettus led 6-4 at the end of the first period and 16-15 at the half. Pettus took a 22-16 lead into the final eight minutes prior to SH engineering an 11-4 run which was led by Heather Wilson’s 5 points and 4 by Ava Lackey.

    Wilson scored a seasonhigh 13 points.

    The Indianettes outscored the Lady Lions 16-6 in the third period to get them over the hump in the 44-34 victory.

    Ava Lackey led SH with 15 points and Kenzie Chance had 10.
