Council approves ordinance, considers installing security cameras at city park

The Shiner City Council approved a city ordinance restricting unreasonable acceleration on the road at the Jan. 8 meeting.
“This deals with stuff like screeching tires on the road and purposely peeling out,” City Secretary Natalie Fric said. “The fine for this ordinance is up to $500. This has been a big issue in the past here downtown.”
As well as this ordinance, the city opted to potentially install security cameras for safety.
“This will be at some of the pavilions that we own, at the game and fish league pavilions at the park and the Kaspar pavilion,” Fric said. “It would be on the outside for security. The cost for this is still pending and we will address this at another meeting.”
