Lady Bulldogs win against Columbus in Yoakum

    The Lady Bulldogs won against the Columbus Lady Cardinals at home and fell to Hallettsville on the road last week.

    YOAKUM 43, COLUMBUS 40

    Jayana Phillips made 14 points and Madison Gonzales netted 10 points as the Lady Bulldogs won against Columbus 43-40 at home Jan. 23.

    Anaya Gardner made 19 points to pace Columbus and Thea Schobel finished with 13 points.

    The Lady Bulldogs took an 11-9 advantage in the first quarter and the teams split 10 points in the second quarter to give the Lady Bulldogs a 16-14 lead.

    The Lady Cardinals slightly outscored the Lady Bulldogs 14-13 in the third quarter to close the gap to 29-28. The Lady Bulldogs ended with a 14-12 run in the fourth quarter.

    The Lady Bulldog win puts them tied with the Lady Cardinals for third place with each team sporting a 6-4 record before their games last Friday

    HALLETTSVILLE 52, YOAKUM 28

    The Hallettsville Brahmas took a 15-4 lead in the opening quarter and kept up their momemtum to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 52-28 Friday in Hallettsville.

    The Lady Brahmas edged out the Lady Bulldogs 10-9 in the second quarter for a 25-13 halftime lead.

    The Lady Brahmas led 40-21 at the third quarter and outscored the Lady Bulldogs 12-7 in the final eight minutes.

    Phillips led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points with Gonzales and Devaeh Rios making six points each.
