Tribe racks up 7th district win in a row

The Sacred Heart Indians made it seven TAPPS District Division IV district wins in a row with a 58-46 beating of St. Paul here Monday night.

The Indians led 19-12 at the end of the first quarter after Nic Angerstein scored on two treys and Andrew Steffek hit 9.

The Indians were ahead 33-26 at the half prior to going on an 11-2 to run to start the third period.

Steffek poured in 34 points and Angerstein added 18.

The Indians are in a three-way tie for first place.

SH 66, Concordia 55

Sacred Heart took a 66-55 verdict over Pflugerville Concordia here Friday night.

The Indians were up 56-36 at the end of the third quarter before things got exciting. The Indians committed 7 floor errors which enabled the Cardinals to cut the lead to 58-51 with 5:19 to play. The Tribe answered with 7 consecutive points with Andrew Steffek scoring two field goals and Hudson Kutac bagging a three to keep the Cardinals at arm’s length.

Up until the fourth period, the Indians had turned the ball over only 7 times and finished with 14.

The Indians leapt out to a 22-8 advantage at the end of the first stanza with Andrew Steffek providing 9 of the points.

The lead was stretched to 42-22 at the half with great shooting by Hudson Kutac, who buried a pair of treys along with two field goals.

Kutac led all scorers with 22 points, Klayton Chance scored 18 and Andrew Steffek 13.

The Indians were snipers in this one with 10 three-pointers.

Turnabout is fair play. Sacred Heart avenged its 82-79 overtime loss to Bracken Christian Jan. 4 with an 81-78 victory in Bulverde Tuesday,J an. 30.

Andrew Steffek poured in a career-high and game-high 35 points to pace the Indians.

In a game where defense was optional, the Indians took a 23-19 lead at the first break with Steffek canning 11 of the points.

The Indians led at half, 40-36, after Steffek scored 12 points.

The Indians took a 64- 60 into the final eight minutes which was with Steffek providing 9 and Hudson Kutac 5.

Kutac added 19 points. Parson led the Warriors with 22 markers.

The Indians shot 15 free throws and made 6 while the Warriors were 4-for-9.

Cornerstone 75, SH 51

The Indians stayed up with S.A. Cornerstone until the half before the Warriors pulled away in the final two periods for a 75-51 victory in the AT&T Center Saturday Jan. 27.

Hudson Kutac scored 24 points and Andrew Steffek 16. Kutac scored 16 points in the first half and the Indians฀ trailed 35-29 at the half.

However, an 18-7 third quarter by the Warriors did the Indians in and led to a 53-37 lead heading into the fourth period.
