Indianettes hold off Lady Cardinals
SHINER – Rivalry games, especially when the contest is for a TAPPS District 5 Division IV championship, can get intense and the Indianettes’ 47-46 victory over St. Paul Thursday was no exception.
After the Lady Cardinals missed a rebound shot at the buzzer, SH fans were finally able to breathe easily again.
The difference in the game was a 7-0 push in the third quarter and Ava Lackey’s 23 points in the game. The Indianettes were up 2 points at the onset of the third. Freshman guard Kenzie Chance hit a three, Kaycee Schindler made a free throw and Lackey scored on backto-back field goals for a 38-29 advantage. SH was up 42-34 going into the final eight minutes, but Indianette coach William Hill knew SP would not go away.
The Lady Cardinals whittled the lead to 44-43 on Kristin Cerny’s jumper with 3:14 to play. The teams kept trading points with a free throw by Lackey proving to be the final point.
“It came down to us making some key stops at the end,” Hill said.
Chance added 10 big points for the Indianettes.
St. Paul attempted only 8 free throws and made 5 while the Indianettes were 6 of 18.
Riley Mozisek came off the bench to lead SP with 16 points.

Ava Lackey posted a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds in the road win Tuesday, Feb. 6.
SH led 12-3 at the first break and 19-10 at the half.
