Edwin J. Wagner
Edwin J. Wagner, 92, of Hallettsville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. He was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Shiner to Charles and Emilie Kocian Wagner.
Ed married Janelle Treptow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville on Sept. 9, 1952.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years and spent a year in Korea attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was discharged in November of 1954.
He and Janelle moved to Houston, where he was employed by General Electric Company and supported Spacelab Life Sciences missions at the Johnson Space Center. He earned several awards including the Snoopy Award presented by the astronauts.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family. After his retirement in 1993, he and Janelle moved back to Hallettsville in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Janelle Wagner; daughters, Carol (Phillip) White of LaPorte, and Iris Miller of Cedar Park; son, Ronnie E. (Mary) Wagner of Pearland; grandchildren, Chris (Betty) Collins of Leander; Heather Collins of Cedar Park; Olivia (John) Kenfield, Jennifer (Chris) Towe, Phillip (Candace) White of Houston; Ashley (Ryan) Black of Deer Park; Amber (David) Namink of Houston, and Ronnie J. (Jeannette) Wagner of Pearland, along with eight great-grandchildren.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emilie Wagner; daughter, Marcelline Foster; sisters, Mary (Walter) Patton and Gladys (George) Lieskovsky; brother, Alphonse (Joyce) Wagner.
Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Koerth with Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
