End of the road for Lady Brahmas in ot loss to Cole
GERONIMO – In the playoffs there are no doovers in the basketball playoffs.
The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas let one get away in losing to San Antonio Cole, 56-53, in overtime in the Region IV-3A quarterfinals at Navarro High School Tuesday, Feb. 20.
The Lady Brahmas had a five-point lead in the OT period with about a minute and a half to play. But crucial turnovers at inopportune times was what led to the heartbreaking defeat.
Senior guard Kamyra Childs scored 11 points in overtime for Cole and was five of seven from the free-throw line while the LB missed four free throws.
A bad start to the game really didn’t help matters with the Cougars taking a 13-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Hallettsville (34-6) whittled the lead to 21-16 at the half after Kasey Harper made two buckets and Adalyn Pohl a three plus a free throw
The Cougars took a 29-28 advantage into the fourth period. A basket by Alaina Halata sent the game to overtime tied at 43-43.
