Reynaldo Rivera Sr.

Reynaldo Rivera Sr., 86, of Shiner, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024. 
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Monday, March 4 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Odartey-Lamptey officiating.
Burial followed at Guadalupe Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Andrew Juarez, Arthur Juarez, Eugene Rivera, Cullen Velek, Anthony Gomez, and Carlos Orosco Jr.
Honorary pallbearer was Joshua Lecon.
Arrangements were under direction of Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum. 361-293-5656.
He was born on March 26, 1937 in Dreyer, the last surviving of seven children born to Ancieto and Maria (Perez) Rivera.
He was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. “Ray” as most people knew him, was a hardworking, quiet gentle man who was always considerate of others. He worked for Kaspar Wire Works for 23 years and Circle Y for 17 years before retiring. He loved watching sports with his favorite teams being the Texas Rangers, Spurs and of course the Dallas Cowboys. 
He was married to his beloved wife Agnes (Castro) Rivera for 48 years until her passing in 2020. We will miss him, but we know he is happy together with his wife Agnes in heaven, dancing to their polkas.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Elliott (Kenny) of Victoria; son, Reynaldo Rivera Jr. (Ludy) of Midland; granddaughter, Victoria Munoz of Shiner; grandson, Travis Brosh of Shiner; three great-grandchildren, Kaydence Franke, Joshua Lecon and Kadilaya Lecon; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Rivera; his parents; and six brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be given to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.
