Moulton softball: Kittens softball start season with four wins, one loss

The Moulton softball team beat Bloomington and won three at the Pettus tournament to open the season.
Moulton 15, Bloomington 0
The Moulton Kittens softball team plated 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to win their season opener 15-0 against Bloomington in three innings Feb. 27 at home.
Moulton plated another four runs in the second innings and preserved the shutout in the top of the third to end the game early.
At the plate, Araceli Vasquez was 3-for-3, triple, three runs and four RBI; Taylor Self hit 3-for-3, run, three RBI and a double with four stolen bases; Bethany Kram finished 2-for-3, triple, three RBI.
Kram pitched a one-hit shutout with a walk and five strikeouts in three innings.
In the field, Karsyn Blahuta had one putout and one assist.

Pettus Tournament
The Kittens posted three wins and a loss in the Pettus tournament.
Victoria Cobras 4, Moulton 1
The Kittens outhit Victoria Cobras 8-6 but only plated a single run in a 4-1 loss to start tournament play on Friday.
Moulton went up 1-0 in the top of the third and the Cobras scored three in the bottom of the inning before adding one in the fourth frame.
Self got two hits and a double; Addison Simper went 2-for-3 with one run.
Kram pitched four innings, six hits, four runs, two walks and six strikeouts.
Katie Richter had two putouts on defense.

Moulton 16, Runge 3
The Kittens scored a dozen in the first inning and rolled Runge 16-3 in their second tournament game on Friday.
Runge got within 13-3 after the second innings before the Kittens put three more on the board in the third box.
Simper was the top hitter going 2-for-2, double, four runs, RBI and three stolen bases.
Kram pitched two innings with one batter hit and one strikeout; Simper worked one inning with three runs on two hits, four walks and three strikeouts.
Kram and Richter each had two putouts.

Moulton 6, Kennedy 4
The Kittens scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to come back from 4-1 down to win 6-4 against Kenedy on Saturday.
The Lions led 1-0 after one inning and 2-1after two frames. 
Kenedy took a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth.
Self and Kram each ahd two hits; Richter had a double and RBI; Dvorak scored two runs.
Kram went five innings with eight hits, four runs, five walks and three strikeouts. 
Blahuta and Dvorak each had three putouts.

Kram hit 3-for-3 for triple, run and four RBI while Blahuta was 3-for-3 with one run as Moulton ended the tournament by defeating the hosts 18-0 with all runs scored in the third inning later on Saturday.
Kram shut out Pettus with one hit and three strikeouts.
Richter had four putouts on defense.
