Shiner softball: Lady Comanches softball start season with W over Weimar

Shiner could not have asked for a more tough game to start the regular season.
Due to the Lady Comanches’ basketball team’s run to the regional tournament, the softball team pulled out of the La Grange tournament week before last.
The Lady Comanches opened both regular season and district at Weimar Feb. 27.
Trailing 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Shiner plated two runs to take a 4-3 win.
The game went scoreless for three innings and Shiner scored one run in the fourth.
Weimar tied the game in the fifth inning, Shiner went up 2-1 in the top of the sixth before the Lady Wildcats scored twice for the lead in the bottom of the frame.
Addy Siegel pitched 1 1/3 innings and took the win with one hit and two strikeouts. Lauren Springfield started in the circle, went one inning with one hit, one walk. Dyllan Chrismon worked 4 2/3 innings with three runs on four hits, two walks and one strikeout.
At the plate, Siegel got a double and had one RBI; Hailey Radicke, Brinley Ramirez and Chrismon each had one hit and one RBI; Rylee Vancura scored two runs; Kloe Polasek and Kara Kupka each had one run.
In the field, Ramirez had seven putouts.
