Plan your STAYCATION

Spring Break is fast approaching! The Carl and Mary Welhausen Library has many experiences to make the week entertaining and educational.

The two big events (hosted by the library) include a Magic Comedy Show and Spring Fling Event.

John O’Bryant, a fan favorite, will have you on the edge of your seat with his amazing and comedic magic and illusion tricks. He will ask a few volunteers from the audience to help him with some of his acts.

Join us for the free family-friendly program at the Yoakum Grand Theater, 212 W. May St., beginning at 2 p.m. on March 12. The concession stand will be open.

On March 13, the library opens its grounds 2-4 p.m. for another family friendly outdoors event, the Annual Spring Fling. Activities will include face painting, ring toss, egg races, a bubble play area, painting a wooden easter ornament, a pinwheel craft, egg hunt, and a visit from two very special guests. Do not forget to bring a camera for the exciting afternoon of fun.

The library always welcomes guests to visit with friends and family. Become familiar with the two new digital play tables (children and teen).

Bring your children to enjoy playing in the children’s section with the pretend kitchen, playhouse, grocery store, and more; share some excitement with the in-house checkout of more than 100 board/card games and STEM kits including table top air hockey and pool, marble mazes, wooden building planks, and magna tiles.

Color and create projects at the kids craft table. Enjoy the young adult coloring space in the teen section.

Check out a Nintendo Switch, 3D pen, or Osmo in the library. The possibilities and activities are endless and the library provides all of this and more, free of charge with a library card.

Visit the library at 810 Front St. in Yoakum.
