St. Paul softball: Lady Cardinals win Flatonia Tournament

    The St. Paul softball team won three and tied one in the Flatonia Tournament last week to take first place.

    Clinging to a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Cardinals plated two runs and then allowed none in the top of the fifth to hold off the host Lady Bulldogs 6-3.
    Tori Walker led at the plate with two hits and a triple. Stefany Pokluda, Tatum Walker, Dallyn Pesek and Sloane Kocian all got a double.
    Tatum Walker pitched five innings with five hits, three runs, three walks and seven strikeouts. Pokluda and Mariah Jackson each had a pair of putouts.

    The Lady Cardinals narrowly avoided defeat by scoring one run in the sixth to cancel out the Lady Tiger run in the top of the fourth for a 1-1 tie.
    Tori Walker hit 1-for-3, double RBI and Tatum Walker batted 1-for-3, run and stolen base.
    Tatum Walker pitched six frames, three hits, one run, three walks and six strikeouts.
    Jackson had five putouts in the field.

    The Lady Cardinals outhit Industrial 12-2 but only outscored them 6-5.
    St. Paul led 2-1 after the first inning, 6-1 after two frames before the Lady Cobras scored three in the third inning and one in the fourth.  
    At the plate, Brooke Cerny was 3-for-3, home run, two runs and two RBI; Pokluda was 2-for-2, RBI; Kocian got two hits.
    Tatum Walker ceded five runs on two hits with seven strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings pitched.
    Jackson had two putouts on defense.

    St. Paul scored three runs in the top of the fourth to key in a 4-3 win over Yoakum. The Lady  Bulldogs led 1-0 after three innings and got within 3-2 after the four innings. St. Paul scored one in the fourth inning and Yoakum likewise in the fifth inning.
    Presley Tuch got two hits and scored a run; Tori Walker was 2-for-3 with one RBI; Pokluda got a triple and scored one run.
    Tatum Walker pitched five frames with six hits, three runs, one walk and four strikeouts.
    Jackson led in the field with five putouts.
