LB opens district with three wins

    The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas opened District 25-AAA play with three victories last week.

    The Lady Brahmas are 20-2 on the season.

    LB 15, Columbus 2 (5)

    The LB abused Columbus, 15-2 in Columbus Saturday.

    Kaylie Olivarez (8-1) gave up two earned runs, five hits, walked two and struck out nine.

    The Jansky sisters - Macie and Carson - both homered. Carson’s was a two-run blast and Macie’s a solo.

    The LB had 12 hits and committed one error.

    Rebecca Satsky, Macie Jansky and Olivarez all doubled. Macie Jansky, Ella Amsden, and Carson Jansky produced two hits each. Hanna Zachary, Addison Matula and Madison Mikes had one hit each.

    LB 13, Yoakum 7

    Rivalry games brings out the best of teams. Case in point is Yoakum.

    Hallettsville broke a 7-7 tie with a run in the fifth inning and five in the sixth in the 13-7 victory here Friday

    Rebecca Satsky had a RBI single in the fifth inning, Macie Jansky hit a two-run homer and Grace Halata a solo home run in the sixth inning.

    Halata was the winning pitcher in relief of Madison Mikes.

    Mikes retired the first 10 batters she faced before giving up a two-run home run in the fourth inning to Olivia Fojt. Yoakum tied the game with a five-run fifth inning. Halata was the winning pitcher and relieved Mikes in the fifth inning with two outs. Halata went on to strike out all 10 batters she faced.

    The LB put across two runs in the first on a single by Kaylie Olivarez and a bases loaded walk to Carson Jansky.

    Olivarez had a RBI single in the second frame and Macie Jansky scored on a wild pitch.

    Three more runs came across in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 7-2.

    Carson Jansky hit a sacrifice fly, a run scored on an error and two on a single by Halata.

    LB 12, Palacios 0 (5)

    Grace Halata gave up five hits, walked two and struck out eight, hit a double and a home run in the victory here Tuesday, March 5.

    The LB collected 16 hits.

    Macie Jansky also hit a round-tripper and drove in three runs.

    Hanna Zachary was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a triple. Ella Amsden, Carson Jansky and Olivarez all doubled. Olivarez was 3-for-3.

    Amsden, Carson Jansky and Rebecca Satsky had two hits apiece and Madison Mikes singled.
