43rd annual South Texas Polka/Sausage Fest next weekend

The 43rd Annual South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest is set for March 22-24 with all festivities scheduled at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.

Besides a weekend filled with Polka music and good food, the event will also feature the 6th annual induction into the South Texas Polka Hall of Fame.

This year outstanding Polka supporter will be Rev. Msgr. John C. Peters, who will be inducted with ceremonies taking place on Sunday, March 24.

Friday, March 22 The Fest will begin Friday with a dine-in or plate-to-go fried fish meal, with all the trimmings, available starting at 5 p.m. The Czechaholics and The Moravians will be perform during the evening providing wwwmusic from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 25 On Saturday, Polka Fest activities will begin with a Polka Mass celebrated at 3 p.m. at the KC Hall. Following the Mass, the afternoon and evening will feature good food and entertaining music. A dinner meal consisting of sausage, sauerkraut, German-style potatoes, kolaches and homemade chicken noodle soup will be available beginning at 4 p.m. The Dujka Brothers and Jodie Mikulik Orchestra will split time on the stage providing the music throughout the evening from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. Sunday, March 26 The Fest will continue on Sunday with the same menu as Saturday being served starting at 10:30 a.m. In addition, fried chicken will also be offered during the day. The Shiner Hobo Band will kickoff the entertainment on Sunday performing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A battle dance, featuring the Ennis Czech Boys, The Red Ravens and Mark Halata and Texavia, will start at 1 p.m. with the three bands performing throughout the day until 8 p.m. The Hall of Fame ceremony is expected to take place at 2 p.m. and a concert involving the three bands will join together to play from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Admission to the event will be $12 per day/per person on Friday and Saturday and $15 per person on Sunday. The cost of admission does not include the cost of the meals. A weekend pass is available at $35 per person, but does not include the cost of meals. Table reservations are available at $100 and include 8 drink tickets for each reservation. Reservations can be made by contacting the Hallettsville KC Hall office. Doors will open an hour before the music starts each day. The public is invited to what promises a weekend of good music, food, entertainment and fellowship. The South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest is sponsored by the Hallettsville K of C Council 2433 with all net proceeds benefitting the Knights of Columbus Fund for the Sacred Heart Catholic School Athletic Program.
