Beverly Frances Wright Haas
Beverly Frances Wright Haas, 77, of Hallettsville, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
She was born in Waco on Dec. 8, 1946, to Ewell E. Wright and Jessie Muse Wright.
After graduating from Lawton High School in Lawton, Okla., Beverly attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.
On Dec. 4, 1971, she married John F. Haas Jr. in Hallettsville.
She had received her Bachelor of Science in Education from SWTSU in 1971 and continued her education while married and received her Master in Education from the University of Houston Victoria in 1975. She was a teacher and taught from 1976-2006 at Nursery in Victoria, Sacred Heart in Hallettsville, Rice ISD at Garwood, Eagle Lake, and St. Joseph in Yoakum. Her teaching certificate included health and physical education, English, elementary general, and kindergarten.
Beverly was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the USA and was well-known for more than 30 years as a leader, service team manager, trainer, and neighborhood chair of Hallettsville. She received the highest award an adult can receive from Girl Scouts, the Thanks Badge II. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She taught CCD, CPR, volunteered at the nursing home, worked at Sylvan Learning Center, was a notary public, and was an extraordinary minister at Sacred Heart of Hallettsville and St. Joseph of Yoakum. She loved volunteering to read to children at the Friench Simpson Memorial Library during the summers.
Beverly absolutely wanted to be a stewardess of kindness in the community. Her favorite things were reading and sending mail to family and friends and when she could she’d go to the Girl Scout National Conventions. She loved to type and collect stamps. She was a very loving and very active mother to her three children and her husband’s greatest supporter.
Beverly is survived by her husband, John of 52 years; son, David Haas and his wife, Leigh Ann of Katy; daughters, Darlene Immekus and husband, Scott of Hallettsville, and Devon Ralston and husband, Aaron of Victoria; 11 grandchildren, Daniel Haas, Hannah Climie, Payton Haas, Colton Haas, James Haas, Kara Immekus, Kayla Immekus, Kade Immekus, Brennon Ralston, Chayson Ralston, and Ellyson Ralston; sister, Ruby Hensley of Decatur, and two brothers, Asa E. Wright of Lockhart and Ira Wright of West Frankfort, Illinois.
Visitation began at 9:30 a.m. and Rosary was recited at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Celebration of the Funeral Mass at followed 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Msgr. John Peters officiated.
Entombment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville.
Pallbearers were Billy Upham, Brian Haas, Rodney Haas, Bradley Haas, Jason Haas, and Jeremy Haas.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School, Girl Scouts of USA or a charity of donor’s choice.
