Jerry James Micek
Jerry James Micek, 77, of Hallettsville was called home, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
He was born in Lavaca County on Dec. 20, 1946, to Alfred and Elizabeth Brosch Micek.
On June 18, 1973, he married Lita Mae Schlebach from Six Mile. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past June.
He proudly served in the United States Army in Fort Polk, La., and overseas in Germany. He worked at Killebrew Dodge and retired from Alcoa in Point Comfort after 32 years as a millwright mechanic.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lita Mae Micek; two sisters; one son and one daughter; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend, Taco.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, John and Olita Lesikar Schlebach; son, Kevin Wayne Micek, daughter, Crystal LeAnn Micek; brother-in-law, John Carey Sr., and nephews, Shane Higdon and David Anderle.
Visitation began at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 10 and the rosary was recited at 4 p.m. at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, March 11 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria. Father Kirby Hlavaty officiated.
Burial with full military honors followed at Resurrection Cemetery in Victoria.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
